With “Tied Feet” I wanted to showcase the suffering of wildlife at the hands of humankind. In this example, a pigeon gets its feet tied together by a red string. Pigeons have been domesticated a long time ago and served as messengers for centuries. For a relatively short time, these services weren’t needed anymore. This resulted in the rise of feral pigeons. The once very important and appreciated animal has been subjected to rising hate and disdain. This results in malnourished, sick and hurt pigeons in our cities.
“Tied Feet” takes this disgrace to the thousands of years of partnership between pigeons and humans and displays it.
